Man United manager Jose Mourinho has earmarked Red Devils youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah as Matteo Darmian’s replacement at Old Trafford, according to reports from The Times.

The Italian full-back is set to leave Manchester in January having been linked with a number of clubs around Europe, including Spanish champions Barcelona.

The former Torino man, who arrived in the Premier League last summer thanks to Louis Van Gaal, could reportedly also be set for a loan move back to struggling Serie A giants, Inter Milan.

Mourinho has held a tough stance with other LVG additions, such as Bastian Schweinstieger, and now deems Darmian surplus to requirements.

As per The Times, the Portuguese considers 18-year-old Fosu-Mensah the perfect replacement at right-back where converted winger, Antonio Valencia is currently starting on a regular basis.

The United youngster signed a new four-year-deal with the club this week, a sign that Mourinho clearly rates the academy graduate.
