Manchester United are reportedly lining up a surprise January move for Southampton striker Graziano Pellè.

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is keen to provide Wayne Rooney with some competition, and has been impressed by the performances of the Saints front man since he joined from Feyenoord in the summer of 2014.

The 30-year-old was recently described by Ronald Koeman as the “complete striker”, and is currently leading the line for his country, Italy, at international level.

Pellè has scored nine goals in 16 appearances this term, and is also said to be a transfer target for Serie A champions Juventus.
