Manchester United are lining up a sensational mega-money move for Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale, according to The Manchester Evening News.

The 27-year-old secured an £85.3 million move from Tottenham back in 2013, and has gone to become one of the best players in European football with 67 goals in 150 games for the Galacticos, in turn winning the La Liga title this season, as well as three Champions League crowns.

The third of those came in Cardiff last night as Bale came off the bench to help Zinedine Zidane’s side to a 4-1 win over Juventus, although this season has been a testing one for the Wales international, with injury reducing his gametime to just 27 appearances, in which time he bagged nine times.

Yet recent reports suggest that Jose Mourinho’s United are looking to end his spell in the Spanish capital, as the Red Devils look to move on from their failed pursuit of Antoine Griezmann with interest in another world-class forward.

The France international has confirmed that he will stay at Atletico Madrid this summer despite intense speculation linking him with United, and it appears that Mourinho is turning his attentions to Welsh wing wizard Bale to try and improve their fortunes next term.

Mourinho’s men will return to the Champions League next term after winning this season’s Europa League, yet the Portuguese boss knows that he will simply have to improve their Premier League fortunes next time round, given they only mustered a sixth place finish this season.

And it appears that mega-money signings are the way the Red Devils are going to try and achieve success once again, but whether United can persuade Bale to leave the Bernabeu this summer very much remains to be seen.
