Manchester United have fallen behind French side Lyon in the race to sign full-back Tyrell Malacia, according to reports.
As per The Mirror, the 22-year-old has emerged as a target for new United boss Erik ten Hag as he looks to rebuild his squad after a disappointing season last term.
The Dutch defender impressed last season, making 50 appearances across all competitions for the Eredivisie side, and that form has attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe.
The report claims that Ligue 1 side Lyon have moved into pole position to land the Netherlands international after tabling a £12 million bid, although Feyenoord are holding out for £15 million.
The player has previously spoken of his desire to secure a big move, telling RTV that he would be ready if it were to happen this summer.
“I am certainly ready for the next step,” he said.
“But first I want to focus on the Orange squad and play here. I feel like everything happens for a reason and everything is written.
“If it’s the right time, it’s the right time. I’m not really thinking about it, it’s in the back of my mind. But I don’t want to comment on it.”
Malacia has made more than 130 appearances for Feyenoord since making his senior debut for the club in 2017.
