Manchester United travel to face Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday night.
Ruben Amorim’s side currently occupy 14th place in the Premier League table, and winning the Europa League therefore represents their last remaining chance of qualifying for European football next term.
The Portuguese will be desperate to see his side reach the final, although La Liga giants Athletic will provide a stern test and perhaps have added incentive to reach the final at their home stadium.
This summer, Amorim and those in charge of United’s recruitment will likely want to overhaul his squad after an underwhelming season.
With that in mind, it appears that the Red Devils are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements.
As per Football Insider, the Manchester outfit are hoping to sign a striker as well as Wolves star Matheus Cunha this summer.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for Wolves star Cunha, and the report suggests that they are hoping to land the Brazilian when the transfer window opens.
United are also hoping to add an out-and-out striker during the upcoming window, however, with their current crop of forwards having struggled this season.
Both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have endured disappointing campaigns in front of goal, netting just 16 times in 94 combined appearances across all competitions.
Cunha’s versatility will benefit Amorim if he does move to Old Trafford, with the Brazilian able to play in a number of attacking roles.
The 25-year-old has scored 17 goals in 32 games for Wolves this season, primarily operating centrally, but the report suggests that Amorim would opt to deploy him as a wide player if he joined United.
