Under pressure Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will hope to see his side improve when they face Chelsea on Saturday.

The Red Devils have lost two of their four Premier League matches so far this season and were also dumped out of the Carabao Cup in round two by League Two side Grimsby Town.

Last time out United suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of fierce rivals Manchester City, and Amorim is under increasing pressure to turn his side’s fortunes around.

In the meantime, it appears that United are showing interest in a former Premier League midfielder.

As per The Daily Briefing, United boss Amorim is keen to sign fellow countryman Ruben Neves from Saudi side Al Hilal.

According to the report, the Portuguese midfielder could return to Europe this summer for a fee in the region of £17.3 million.

Neves, spent six successful years with Wolves before departing for the Saudi Pro League in 2023.

During his time at Molineux, the midfielder scored 30 goals and provided 13 assists in 253 games for Wolves across all competitions.

Since moving to the Middle East, Neves has played more than 90 times for his current side, registering a combined 34 goals and assists.

The Portugal international’s contract with Al Hilal is set to run until the end of the current campaign, but the report suggests that he could soon return to Europe.

United are on the hunt for midfield reinforcements and are also said to have identified Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba and Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton as potential targets.

It appears that Neves – who has played 177 times in the English top flight – is also a target as Amorim looks to bolster his squad.
