Michael Carrick will be working hard behind the scenes to make his mark on Manchester United’s squad this summer.

The Englishman was named as the Red Devils’ caretaker head coach back in January following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal, and made an instant impact at Old Trafford.

Carrick guided United to a third-placed finish in the Premier League – securing a place in next term’s Champions League – and was appointed as the club’s permanent boss last month.

While the transfer window doesn’t officially open until June 15, it appears that Manchester United are already planning ahead for this summer, with one of their squad players set to leave the club.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is likely to leave Manchester United this summer in search of more regular game time.

The Turkish ‘keeper joined Manchester United from Super Lig giants Fenerbahce ahead of the 2023/24 season, but has struggled to ever establish himself as the club’s first-choice between the sticks.

Despite starting the first six Premier League matches of last term after usurping Andre Onana, the 28-year-old reverted to back-up following Senne Lammens’ arrival in September last year.

In total the Turkey international has made just 17 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions, conceding 32 goals and keeping only three clean sheets.

Romano claims that Manchester United are set to keep Tom Heaton as their third-choice ‘keeper, with the Englishman having signed a new one-year deal last month.

The Red Devils will, however, look to sign a new replacement for Bayindir is he does depart, with Lammens set to stay as the club’s first choice.

Bayindir has just over 12 months remaining on his current contract with United, which suggests that the player could be sold this summer as opposed to leaving on loan.
