Three of Europe’s biggest footballing nations have exited the World Cup at the last 32 stage this week.
Germany and the Netherlands were both beaten on penalties earlier this week – by Paraguay and Morocco respectively – before Croatia fell to a 2-1 defeat against Portugal on Friday morning, despite a controversial late VAR intervention to deny them an equaliser deep into added time.
In the days since the Netherlands’ defeat against Morocco, Ronald Koeman has resigned as the head coach of the Dutch national side.
Now, it has emerged that one member of the Dutch squad is a target for a huge Premier League side.
According to Ben Jacobs, Manchester United have opened talks with West Ham United over a move for forward Crysencio Summerville.
Jacobs claims that United are simply exploring a possible move at present, as opposed to formalising their interest with an official offer.
Despite this, the Dutchman is said to be high on United’s list of possible transfer targets as they look to bolster Michael Carrick’s squad ahead of the start of the new season.

Summerville joined the Hammers from Leeds United in 2024, but has since scored just eight goals and provided only seven assists in 56 games for the east London club across all competitions.
He was part of the Netherlands squad that were knocked out of the World Cup on Tuesday, but did score his first and second international goals at the tournament.
While United are believed to be in direct talks with Championship side West Ham about a possible deal, Jacobs suggests that United’s ability to sign Summerville could depend significantly on whether or not they offload Marcus Rashford this summer.
The England international spent last season on loan at Spanish giants Barcelona, and has since been linked with a permanent move away from Old Trafford.
