Manchester United have been linked with a shock move for Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
As reported by The Telegraph, The Red Devils have considered a move for the Toffees ‘keeper as they look to sign an experienced player to act as David de Gea’s deputy.
The Bosnian, who has previously played for a host of other clubs including Chelsea and Stoke City, made just seven appearances across all competitions last season.
De Gea, meanwhile, apologised to United supporters in the wake of their 4-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday, having made mistakes for each of The Bees’ first two goals.
At present, Erik ten Hag has only De Gea and 36-year-old Tom Heaton as goalkeeping options, although the latter has made just one appearance for the club since joining last summer.
Begovic, 35, has made more than 250 Premier League appearances and kept a respectable 50 clean sheets in 173 matches for The Potters.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international was also part of the Blues squad that lifted the Premier League trophy in 2017.
It is thought that United have not yet made an official offer to Everton for Begovic.
