Manchester United travel to Stockholm to face old rivals Leeds United in their first pre-season on Saturday.

New signing Matheus Cunha could make his first non-competitive appearance for the Red Devils in Sweden, before Ruben Amorim’s side jet off to the United States to face West Ham United, Everton and Bournemouth during a pre-season tour.

After a 15th-placed finish in the Premier League last season, United won’t compete in Europe this term, which could prove beneficial for Amorim as he attempts to turn his side’s fortunes around.

Away from the action, it appears that one of United’s attackers is intent on a move away from the club.

Fabrizio Romano claims that winger Alejandro Garnacho is set to depart Old Trafford but is keen to stay in the Premier League.

Garnacho, 21, joined United from Spanish side Atletico Madrid back in 2020 and has since played 144 times for the Manchester club across all competitions.

He has scored 26 goals in that time, as well as registering 22 assists for the Red Devils.

Last season the winger scored 11 goals and registered ten assists in 58 matches for United, despite their domestic struggles.

Garnacho spoke publicly at his frustration at being left out of the starting XI for United’s Europa League final defeat against rivals Tottenham Hotspur in May, and it appears that his time at the club is now coming to an end.

The Argentine’s current contract with the Red Devils is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 season, but Romano suggests that he is very likely to depart Old Trafford prior to the start of next term.
