England manager Roy Hodgson says Wayne Rooney’s place in his Euro 2016 squad isn’t guaranteed.
The Manchester United striker has struggled for form so far this term, scoring his first Premier League goal of the season in last weekend’s 2-0 win against Sunderland.
Despite becoming his country’s all-time record goalscorer last month, the Three Lions’ boss said he can’t say for sure that his captain will definitely be on the plane to France.
Hodgson said: “He would not expect it and I would be very upset if anyone asked me to give them a guarantee of a place. No-one else has ever done.”
