Man United target and Man City star named amongst the Ballon d’Or nominees

Atletico Madrid and Man City stars Antoine Griezmann and Kevin De Bruyne have both been named among the list of 2016 Ballon d’Or nominees, alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

The award, run by French magazine, France Football, since 1956 is no longer associated with FIFA, but will continue nonetheless.

The magazine are slowly announcing the nominees throughout the day (Monday) and have already revealed Man City’s star playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne, who has made a flying start to the season.

The Belgium international, who joined from Wolfsburg last summer has bagged two goals and six assists in 12 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side so far this season.

Amongst the other nominees, one to watch for Man United fans is Atletico Madrid and France forward, Antoine Griezmann.

The 25-year-old, and close friend of United star Paul Pogba, has repeatedly been linked with a move to Old Trafford next summer as manager Jose Mourinho looks to build a squad of world beaters.
