Man Utd linked with £42m move for free scoring forward

Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign £42m rated Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The 13-time Premier League champions, who currently sit third in the standings following last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City, are understood to have registered their interest in signing the Borussia Dortmund striker alongside English rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

The 26-year-old, who has 47 international caps to his name, has scored a sensational 25 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Having vastly emerged as one of Europe’s hottest forwards ahead of the January transfer window; Louis van Gaal’s side are desperate to beat the Gunners and Blues to the signing of Aubameyang, who has been scouted several times by each club this campaign.

Also said to be interesting European champions FC Barcelona this New Year; the BBC African Footballer of the Year finalist does come with a hefty consequence however, a £42m price tag to be exact as his current contract at Dortmund doesn’t expire until 2020.
