Manchester United are reportedly closely monitoring the form of Algeria international Yacine Brahimi.

The 13-time Premier League champions, who are currently two points behind joint-leaders Manchester City and Arsenal in the table, are understood to have made the FC Porto ace their number one transfer target ahead of the forthcoming January window.

The 25-year-old, who has 25 international caps to his name, has scored two and assisted three goals in 12 appearances for the Portuguese giants so far this season.

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has signalled his intent to sign a new winger during the New Year period, with Brahimi destined to be United’s top priority after receiving many plaudits during Porto’s Champions League victory over Chelsea earlier this campaign.

However; it is understood that Van Gaal would have to meet the forward’s whopping £40m release clause to claw him away from the Estadio do Dragao in 2016.
