Manchester City and Manchester United could be involved in a transfer tug-of-war this summer if they both wish to sign Senegal international Sadio Mane, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League rivals, who currently sit fourth and fifth in the standings following their weekend defeats to Tottenham and Sunderland respectively, are ready to fight for the signature of Southampton’s star winger at the end of the current 2015-16 campaign.

The 23-year-old, who has 29 international caps for his country, has scored seven and assisted eight goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for the Saints so far this season.

The report suggests that Ronald Koeman’s side are ready to cash in on their £30m-rated forward this summer, which will alert both City and United.

Southampton managed to fend off Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal’s attempts of signing Mane during last summer’s transfer window, but due to the winger’s downturn in form throughout this term, the south coast club are now willing to part with one of their most prized assets at St Mary’s Stadium.
