Manchester City are close to completing a £37 million move to sign Schalke midfielder Leroy Sane, according to BBC Sport.
The Germany international has been left out of his current club’s squad for their pre-season tour of Austria, and has instead travelled to Manchester where he is expected to seal a transfer that will see him link up with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
The 20-year-old, who was part of the German side that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016 this summer, scored eight goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke last term, as they narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification by finishing fifth.
If Sane does complete his move, he will become Guardiola’s third major signing since he officially took the reins at City last month, following in the footsteps of Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund, and Nolito from Celta Vigo, as the club look to improve on a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League last season.
