Manchester City are reportedly expected to finalise a £23m deal to sign Germany international Ilkay Gundogan this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League side, who currently sit third in the English top-flight standings after easing past defending champions Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, have been strongly linked with a move for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder once the 2015-16 campaign has drawn to a close.

The 25-year-old, who has 16 international caps for his country and is expected to be included in Germany’s Euro 2016 squad later this year in France, has scored three goals and provided seven assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Gundogan; who was also attracting interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, plus European giants FC Barcelona and Juventus, is set to join Pep Guardiola in leaving Germany for English football this summer – with the current Bayern Munich boss replacing Manuel Pellegrini as City manager.

The report suggests that the Citizens have offered the central midfielder a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium.
