Manchester City face an anxious wait to see whether Sergio Aguero returns from international duty fit ahead of this weekend’s Premier League ties, according to the Daily Star.

The Citizens, who currently sit one point clear at the top of the English top-flight, despite losing 2-0 to second placed Tottenham last time out, fear their star striker has suffered a major injury after being forced out of training with his Argentina team-mates on Sunday.

The 28-year-old, who has 77 international caps for his country, ended the training session earlier and is understood to have a scan on a suspected calf problem yesterday.

Aguero, who will miss today’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Paraguay, has netted an incredible 11 times in just eight appearances in all competitions for City so far this season.

Pep Guardiola’s Citizens host Everton at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday, with the league leaders looking to return to winning ways after the international break.
