Manchester City are reportedly favourites to land Brazil international star Fred this summer, according to the Daily Star.

The Premier League leaders, who drew 1-1 at Burnley on Saturday afternoon, have been strongly linked with securing the services of the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

The 24-year-old, who has six international caps for his country, has scored two goals and provided four assists in 24 appearances in all competitions for the Premier Liga outfit so far this season.

Fred, who joined Shakhtar back in June 2013 following his reported €15m from Internacional, has netted 13 goals in 142 games overall for the Ukrainian club.

The report claims City boss Pep Guardiola is tipped to lure the Brazilian to the Etihad Stadium this summer, despite interest from arch rivals Manchester United.

City is understood to be Fred’s preferred destination, and a deal worth £50m is expected to be completed.
