Manchester City should snap up these 2 Tottenham stars this summer

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City know that a point away at Watford on Sunday will secure them a place in next season’s Champions League.

The Citizens currently sit third in the Premier League table with just one round of fixtures remaining, and are three points clear of Arsenal in fifth as the race for a top four place comes down to the wire.

However, Guardiola’s side are in a very strong position having won their last three games, and know that a point will be enough for Champions League football, while victory would guarantee them direct entry into the group stages of the competition.

Nonetheless, it still hasn’t been the season many City fans would have been hoping for when Guardiola took over in the summer, given they have failed to win a trophy, failed to put together a title challenge, and failed to get past the round of 16 in the Champions League.

And one way Guardiola may build for next season is by targeting players at their rivals, and one side he could look at is Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham.

Thus, here are TWO Spurs stars City must try and land this summer…

Kyle Walker

As the season nears to a close, it is looking increasingly likely that Kyle Walker will be leaving Tottenham this summer.

The England international has had a wonderful season at White Hart Lane once again, laying on five assists in 33 Premier League appearances, and recent reports suggest that his excellent displays have attracted interest from other top English clubs, who could be willing to pay him substantially more than Spurs.

And one of those is Guardiola’s City, and with the Spaniard looking likely to let Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy, and Pablo Zabaleta leave the club this summer, he will be in desperate need of full-backs in the upcoming window.

And Walker fits the bill – he is energetic, full of running and attacking endeavour, and has arguably improved the defensive side of his game in recent times. He’s the ideal signing for Guardiola, and one he must get done this summer.

Dele Alli

Guardiola has spoken in the recent past about his desire to have more English players in his squad, comparing it with his Spanish core at Barcelona and German core at Bayern Munich, and this summer could thus see him target Spurs attacker Dele Alli.

The 20-year-old has once again been in sensational form for Tottenham this term, beating his tally of ten Premier League goals from last term with ease this time round, bagging 17 and laying on six assists to help Pochettino’s men to second in the division.

The England star has enhanced his already-vast reputation in the game with another fantastic campaign at White Hart Lane, but earlier this week refused to rule out a move from Spurs, telling Sky Sports: ‘You can never say what’s going to happen in the future. No one knows, no one can predict it.’

Although it’s unlikely he’ll leave Tottenham this summer, City have the financial power and backing to test Spurs’ resolve in the upcoming window.
