Manchester City have reportedly registered an interest in signing France youth international defender Lucas Hernandez this summer, according to The Sun.

The Premier League giants, who finished fourth in the English top-flight standings last term under former boss Manuel Pellegrini, are understood to have made the Atletico Madrid centre-half their new top transfer target ahead of the forthcoming 2016/17 campaign.

The 20-year-old, who has featured three times for the France Under-20 squad, made 16 first-team appearances in all competitions for the La Liga outfit last season.

Hernandez, who reportedly has a £20m buyout clause, is said to also be attracting interest from Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich and Ligue 1 winners Paris Saint-Germain.

New Citizens boss Pep Guardiola is hopeful of luring the highly-rated defender to the Etihad Stadium this summer after impressing for Atletico in the Champions League quarter-finals against FC Barcelona, before featuring in the final against Real Madrid as a substitute.
