Manchester United: 3 crucial games in the Red Devils’ Premier League run-in

Arsenal (H) – February 28

Quite simply, Utd’s title hopes were extinguished a fairly long time ago. But if they are not going to win it, you can bet that plenty of the experienced members of the United squad would love nothing more than stopping their old rivals winning it either.

Louis van Gaal’s men lie six points adrift of arch-rivals and fourth-placed Manchester City in fifth spot.

Man City (A) – March 20

Apparently lagging behind the Sky Blues in most academy age groups, the Utd side are a long way off their counterparts’ first team too. But winning a derby in City’s own back yard would be at least be a bright spot in what has been a turgid season.

Tottenham (A) – April 9

It’s hard to believe at one point Louis van Gaal was the preferred managerial candidate for Tottenham fans, who wanted the Dutchman far more than Mauricio Pochettino. A trip to White Hart Lane is no longer an easy ride for Man Utd, a testament to the Argentine’s work in North London.
