Manchester United are close to securing a deal to sign Donny van de Beek from Ajax, according to reports.
The midfielder has starred for the Eredivisie giants since breaking into their first-team in 2015, scoring 41 times in 75 appearances.
However, journalist Mike Verweij has reported on Twitter that the 23-year-old is close to ending his 12-year association with the Amsterdam side.
It’s claimed that Manchester United have agreed a £40.13 million deal with Ajax for Van De Beek’s signature.
The Netherlands international, who has also been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid, is expected to sign a five-year deal at Old Trafford.
If the transfer is confirmed then the Netherlands international will become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first summer signing.
After guiding United to a third-placed finish, Europa League, League Cup and FA Cup semi-finals in his first full season in charge, Solskjaer will be hoping to improve on that in the upcoming 2020/21 campaign.
