Manchester United face stiff competition if they want to land EURO 2016 winner Andre Gomes this summer, according to AS (via the Express).
The Premier League side, who missed out on Champions League qualification this year after missing out on fourth spot in the English top-flight standings to rivals Manchester City last term, have been continually linked with a move for the highly-rated Valencia midfielder ahead of the forthcoming 2016/17 campaign.
The 22-year-old, who has 13 international caps for his country and starred for Portugal as they defeated France 1-0 in the final of EURO 2016 last Sunday, scored four goals and provided seven assists in 41 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga outfit last season.
Gomes, who began his senior career in his homeland with Benfica, is wanted by new Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
However the report suggests that Spanish giants FC Barcelona and Real Madrid have joined the chase to land the Valencia star, with the player being valued at around £54.4m according to the reports.
