Manchester United have announced the departure of goalkeeper Dean Henderson on transfer deadline day.

The Premier League giants, who defeated Hull City 1-0 at the weekend to preserve their 100% record in the top-flight so far this term, have loaned the young shot-stopper to League Two side Grimsby Town until January.

The 19-year-old, who is a former England Under-17 international, is a regular for the Red Devils’ Under-21 side under the guidance of ex-midfielder Nicky Butt and enjoyed a similar loan spell at non-league Stockport County last season.

The highly-rated Henderson shipped two goals in United’s 2-0 defeat to Southampton in the Premier League 2 back on August 22, 2016.

Last term, Henderson was recalled from his loan stint at Stockport to be part of Manchester United’s first-team squad that defeated Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup.

Grimsby currently sit 12th in the League Two standings following their promotion from the National League earlier this year, with the Mariners thrashing Stevenage 5-2 in their latest league outing.
