Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will be hoping that new signings Rasmus Hojlund and Sofyan Amrabat can help to turn his side’s fortunes around when they return to action on Saturday.

The Red Devils have endured a difficult start to the season having been beaten by both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal so far, but Ten Hag will hope that Hojlund – who made his debut from the bench against the Gunners – and new midfielder Amrabat can inspire an improvement when domestic football returns.

United spent £72 million on Hojlund, 20, despite the Dane having scored just ten senior goals for previous side Atalanta.

Despite splashing out on the Denmark international, it appears that those in charge of United are already planning ahead for next summer’s transfer window and have their eye on another new forward.

As per The Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils have been monitoring young Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson.

The 18-year-old has broken into the first team under Seagulls manager Roberto De Zerbi over the past 12 months, and is regarded by many as one of the most promising young prospects in European football.

Ferguson scored his first Brighton hat-trick against Newcastle last time out

The Irishman scored ten goals in 25 matches across all competitions last season, and has already netted four times in as many games this term thanks primarily to his hat-trick against Newcastle United last time out.

Ferguson joined the Seagulls from Irish side Bohemians back in 2021 and has impressed whenever given the opportunity to do so since then.

The striker was handed his senior international debut in November last year and has scored twice in six games for Ireland.

Earlier this year he signed a new long-term contract with Brighton, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2028.

Brighton have sold a number of players for huge profits in recent seasons, including Moises Caicedo and Marc Cucurella, and it appears that they could be looking to do so once again with Ferguson.
