Manchester United are reportedly willing to sell England international defender Luke Shaw for £20m, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who currently sit second in the top-flight standings, eight points adrift of runaway leaders and arch rivals Manchester City, have been linked with offloading the out of favour left-back to newly promoted Newcastle United during the forthcoming January transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who has seven international caps for the Three Lions, has made just two first-team appearances for The Red Devils so far this season, both coming in the EFL Cup.

Shaw, who arrived at Old Trafford back in June 2014 from Premier League rivals Southampton in a deal worth up to £30m, has featured 49 times in all competitions for United overall, providing just three assists.

The report suggests Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is keen to resurrect the full-back’s career at St James’ Park, having made an enquiry for Shaw’s services, but he has immediately been put off United’s £20m asking price ahead of the New Year market.

Even a loan move seems unlikely for the defender, as it is understood United boss Jose Mourinho would prefer to offload him permanently.
