Manchester United are reportedly interested in landing Italy youth international starlet Pietro Pellegri, according to The Sun.
The Premier League side, who face CSKA Moscow in their second UEFA Champions League group stage fixture tomorrow night, have been linked with the highly rated Genoa forward ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
The 16-year-old, who has featured 13 times for Italy’s Under-17 side, has three goals in six first-team appearances for the Serie A outfit overall.
Pellegri, who is a product of the Italian club’s youth system, is regarded as one of his country’s hottest prospects after making his debut at just 15-years-old and becoming the youngest goalscorer in Serie A last term against AS Roma.
The Genoa gem’s value also rose after the teenager netted twice against Lazio earlier this month.
The report suggests United have joined Premier League rivals Chelsea in the race to sign Pellegri, alongside Italian giants Juventus.
However, Genoa chairman Enrico Preziosi is understood to be demanding around £40m to part with the talented striker.
