Manchester United have reportedly switched their attentions to signing Italy international star Marco Verratti, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Premier League side, who finished sixth in the English top-flight standings last term, but won the UEFA Europa League and the EFL Cup, have been linked with the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder after seemingly giving up on trying to lure Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier to Old Trafford this summer.

The 24-year-old, who has 21 international caps for the Azzurri, scored three goals and provided eight assists in 43 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 giants last season.

Verratti, who arrived at the Parc des Princes back in July 2012 following his switch from Italian outfit Pescara, has netted six times in over 200 outings for the club overall, winning four league titles.

However, after reportedly failing to budge Spurs on selling England international Dier this summer, the report suggests Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho will look towards the Italian ace, who was heavily tipped to join FC Barcelona this transfer window.
