Manchester United have reportedly emerged as favourites to land Netherlands Under-17 international starlet Daishawn Redan, according to the Mirror.
The Premier League side, who currently sit fifth in the English top-flight standings after defeating Middlesbrough 3-1 at the Riverside Stadium last weekend, have been strongly linked with snapping up the highly-rated teenager this summer.
The 16-year-old, who celebrated his latest birthday only last month, has impressively scored eight goals in just 12 international appearances for the Netherlands’ Under-17 squad.
However, Eredivisie giants Ajax have confirmed that the forward will be leaving the Amsterdam ArenA at the end of the current 2016-17 campaign.
The report suggests that talks over a new contract for Redan had stalled after the striker wanted a first-team guarantee ahead of the 2017-18 term.
Having joined the Dutch outfit when he was just eight-years-old, the teen was first brought to the attention of The Red Devils during former boss Louis van Gaal’s reign at Old Trafford, thanks to scout Henny De Regt.
