Manchester United have reportedly submitted a £70m bid for Italy international striker Andrea Belotti, according to the Independent.
The Premier League side, who on Friday released top goalscorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic after just one term at Old Trafford, have been heavily linked with a move for the in-form Torino hitman throughout the 2016-17 campaign.
The 23-year-old, who has eight international caps for the Azzurri, scored a remarkable 28 goals and provided eight assists in 38 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit this season.
Belotti, who is understood to have a buy-out clause worth a whopping £84m, is wanted by Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho ahead of the 2017-18 term, despite already closing in on fellow forward Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
With Ibrahimovic departing, and captain Wayne Rooney set to follow suit this summer, the ‘Special One’ needs to significantly strengthen his attacking options if United are to improve on their sixth place finish in the Premier League.
