Manchester United are reportedly leading Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, according to the Guardianvia the Daily Star.

It is understood that the Spanish attacker’s former club, Real Madrid, will exercise their £23.6m option to buy him back to the Bernabeu in a clause inserted into his contract when he was sold to the Serie A champions in 2014.

However, it is thought that instead of keeping the 23-year-old, Zinedine Zidane will look to make a profit on the Spain international, who is interesting a number of the big Premier League clubs.

It is thought that if Jose Mourinho takes over at Manchester United this summer, then Morata would favour the move to Old Trafford, after the Portuguese manager gave the forward his Real debut in 2010, with them enjoying a successful working relationship.

New Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who brought Morata to Juventus two years ago, is also keen, but the Red Devils look to be favourites if Louis van Gaal is indeed replaced by Mourinho at the end of the season.
