Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Portugal international defender Pepe’s current contract situation ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window, according to AS (via Calciomercato).
The Premier League side, who slipped down to eighth in the English top-flight standings on Saturday following their goalless draw at home to newly promoted Burnley at Old Trafford, are keeping an eye on the centre-half, as he is yet to sign a new contract with Real Madrid.

The 33-year-old, who has 81 international caps for his country, has scored one goal and provided one assist in eight appearances in all competitions for the La Liga leaders so far this season.
However Pepe, who starred for Portugal this summer as his nation defeated hosts France in the 2016 European Championships final, is also said to be attracting interest from defending Serie A champions Juventus as well as the Red Devils.
The Portuguese’s current deal at the Bernabeu is set to expire next summer, where he will be able to leave Madrid on a free transfer, unless manager Zinedine Zidane decides to offer him a new deal between now and the end of the 2016/17 campaign.
