Manchester United are reportedly preparing a club-record raid for France international superstar Antoine Griezmann, according to the Star on Sunday.

The Premier League side, who were pinned back to a 2-2 draw at Stoke City on Saturday evening at the bet365 Stadium, have been continuously linked with a mega-money move for the Atletico Madrid forward for numerous transfer windows, but a transfer has failed to materialise.

The 26-year-old, who has 45 international caps for his country, was sent off following a second bookable offence during the La Liga club’s league opening 2-2 draw against Girona FC in August.

Griezmann, who joined Atletico back in 2014 following his move from Spanish rivals Real Sociedad, has scored an impressive 83 goals in 161 appearances in all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side overall.

The report suggests The Red Devils have left their No.7 shirt free for a major signing, with manager Jose Mourinho determined to make the Frenchman his next major signing at Old Trafford, with the club putting aside a club-record £100m to get the deal done.
