Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of trying to sign Spain international star Cesc Fabregas this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Premier League side; who could only finish fifth in the English top-flight standings last term, despite winning the 2016 FA Cup under former boss Louis van Gaal, have been surprisingly linked with an ambitious move for the Chelsea midfielder ahead of the upcoming 2016/17 campaign.
The 29-year-old, who has 110 international caps for his country and featured for Spain at EURO 2016 before they were knocked out by Italy in the Round of 16, scored six goals and provided nine assists in 49 appearances in all competitions for the Blues last season.
Fabregas, who only arrived at Stamford Bridge back in June 2014 following his £27m switch from La Liga giants FC Barcelona, is wanted by new Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford this term – who was sacked as Chelsea manager back in mid-December.
The report suggests that the Spaniard’s future at the Londoners is under threat due to incoming boss Antonio Conte seeking new central midfielders before the close of the current transfer window.
