Manchester United Predicted XI: Tonight’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig is a huge encounter, we predict Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI

Solskjaer will be excited about signing his fellow countryman.

Manchester United face a huge match in the Champions League tonight, as they travel to RB Leipzig with qualification on the line.

Tonight’s teams and Paris Saint-Germain all sit on nine points going into the last round of fixtures tonight. Despite United sitting top of the table, PSG are favourites given the fact they are facing fourth placed Istanbul Basaksehir.

A single point will be enough for United tonight, but Solskjaer has insisted it is no in the club’s DNA to play for a 0-0 draw.

Despite beating the German outfit 5-0 in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford, Red Devils’ fans will know it won’t be as easy as that this evening.

Here we predict United’s starting XI to take on RB Leipzig…

Goalkeeper:

David De Gea – Despite Dean Henderson playing against West Ham United at the weekend, we expect De Gea to start tonight’s encounter, with Solskjaer playing the best team available. The Spaniard has bags of experience at this level and will know that a clean sheet will be enough for United to qualify.

Defenders:

We expect United to play five at the back tonight as they adjust to a few injuries in the forward positions. That could see Luke Shaw make his return to competitive action on the left side of a back three, whilst Alex Telles will continue his run in the side at left wing back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a definite starter on the right hand side, whilst the preferred duo of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof will partner Luke Shaw in the back three.

Midfielders:

Brazilian Fred got sent off against PSG, so will miss this game through suspension. Solskjaer will name the industrious Scott McTominay in defensive midfield, but will have a decision between Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba. Despite unwanted press from his agent, we feel World Cup winner Pogba will start given his performance at the London Stadium at the weekend. Bruno Fernandes will probably be the first name on the team sheet for tonight’s encounter and is likely to be infliential as ever.

Forwards:

Both Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani have not travelled to Germany, due to the knocks they picked up at the weekend. With the 3-5-2 formation, that leaves space for two strikers so Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are almost definite starters for tonight’s encounter. It’s a big night for both men, who will be keen to avoid the poor first half performance they put in against Southampton in the first half a few weeks ago.

Manchester United starting line-up: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw, Telles, McTominay, Pogba, Fernandes, Rashford, Greenwood
