Solskjaer has many defenders in his squad.

Manchester United Predicted XI: We predict Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s selection, ahead of their much-anticipated return against Tottenham Hotspur.

United face off against Spurs this evening, as both teams return to action following the extended Coronavirus break which halted the Premier League for 100 days.

The games is significant for both clubs in many ways. Not only does it see Spurs boss Jose Mourinho face-up against his former team for the second time, it is also significant in the race for the Champions League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side managed to beat Spurs 2-1 in the previous fixture at Old Trafford, which saw Mourinho fall to his first defeat as Tottenham boss.

With nine league games remaining United sit jut three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea with Spurs a further four points behind.

So which United players will be tasked with the challenge of getting the Red Devils back to a winning start tonight. Here we predict Solskjaer’s XI…

Goalkeeper: Despite United’s No.2 Sergio Romero performing well pretty much every time he wears a United shirt, Ole will still choose David De Gea between the sticks this evening. The Spaniard’s form has been much better this season, after not being at his best as the back end of United’s last campaign.

Defenders: We believe Solsjkjaer will revert back to the 3-5-2 formation which has served him well in tough matches this season. That will see the imperious Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right wing back, the undroppable Harry Maguire alongside Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw, whilst youngster Brandon Williams will be deployed at left wing back.

Midfielders: United’s midfield looks a different beast with January signing Bruno Fernandes unlocking defences. But the big question will be whether Solksjaer opts to start World Cup winner Paul Pogba after such a long time out. We think he’ll stick with Scott McTominay and Fred given their excellent performance so many months ago in the Manchester Derby.

Forwards: Solskjaer has a decision on his hands with who to go with in attack. The 3-5-2 formation only leaves space for two strikers. Man of the moment Marcus Rashford is expected to start tomorrow evening which leaves Solskjaer with a few options to support the England international. We believe Daniel James will get the nod for his running power and tenacity.

Predicted XI: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Bailly, Shaw, Williams; McTominay Fred, Fernandes; James, Rashford.
