Manchester United Predicted XI: We predict United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI, as his side travel to Everton in the lunchtime Premier League kick off.

It seems like it’s one step forward, two steps back for Ole and his United side at this current time as they come off the back of a disappointing result and performance at home to Arsenal and an even worse display away at Istanbul in the Champions League.

After deploying the diamond formation so successfully in the Champions League rout against RB Leipzig, it simply hasn’t worked in United’s last two fixtures.

Solskjaer’s squad currently sit 15th in the Premier League table and are absolutely desperate for a vital three points to push them up the rankings.

However, they face an Everton side who started brightly, but have dipped themselves in recent weeks, losing their last two games to Newcastle United and Southampton.

So which players will Solskjaer task with getting United a positive result at Everton?

Here we predict the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI…

Goalkeeper: David de Gea has looked more like his old self this season with Dean Henderson breathing down his neck. Henderson was given a chance in the Champions League, where he conceded his first goals in a United shirt. The Spaniard will be recalled today and will be hoping fora clean sheet.

Defenders: United’s defence were an absolute shambles midweek in the Champions League, forcing Solskjaer to hook off Axel Tuanzebe at half time. Victor Lindelof sat out midweek with a back problem, but we expect the Sweden international to start today alongside the under pressure Harry Maguire. Solskjaer could be ruthless and drop Luke Shaw for Brandom Williams, but we expect Aaron Wan-Bissaka to retain his place in the team.

Midfielders: After successfully playing the diamond against RB Leipzig in the Champions League, the system then failed against Arsenal at the weekend and in Istanbul. Despite the system allowing Solskjaer to fit in more of his talented midfielders we expect the Norwegian to scrap the system this afternoon. Fred and Scott McTominay will start the match in the holding position, with Bruno Fernandes behind the forwards. That leaves no place for Paul Pogba or Donny van de Beek.

Forwards: Anthony Martial is finally available for Solskjaer following his three game domestic ban and will go straight back into the starting line-up in the striker position. We expect Marcus Rashford to start on the left of the attacking three with Mason Greenwood on the right. Solksjaer will go back to basics this afternoon and hope that his trusted trio can produce the goods.

Predicted United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Williams, McTominay, Fred, Fernandes, Rashford, Greenwood, Martial.
