Manchester United Predicted XI: Will Ole Gunnar Solskjaer make big changes to his team for tonight’s Carabao Cup tie away at Luton Town?

The Red Devils started their 2020/21 campaign in miserable fashion on Saturday, as they went down 3-1 at home to Crystal Palace.

Manager, Solskjaer conceded that his team are well off the pace due to the quick turnaround between seasons. United were only able to play one pre-season friendly.

Usually a third round League Cup tie against lower opposition would see United make plenty of changes, but we think Solskjaer will try and give as many of his players game time as possible.

So which United players will be tasked with the challenge of getting into the hat for the fourth round? Here we predict Solskjaer’s XI…

Goalkeeper: David de Gea did very little wrong on Sunday, despite conceding three goals. He saved a penalty (which harshly deemed to be retaken) and made other key saves. However, we believe Solskjaer will use this opportunity to name Dean Henderson in his starting XI. Fans will be very interested to see how he performs.

Defenders: United’s back four were well below par on Sunday, so Solskjaer has a big decision on his hands. Does he allow his back four to build fitness and match sharpness, or let other players stake their claim for a Premier League start? We expect Harry Maguire to remain in the team, but Eric Bailly to sit alongside him. Brandon Williams will be given a run out at left back and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will come into the side.

Midfielders: As much as fans want to see the dream trio of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek starting a football match, we don’t believe that will happen tonight. We expect de Beek to come into the side, alongside Fred and Nemanja Matic as Solskjaer tries to gives his squad much-needed playing time.

Forwards: Solskjaer was criticised for naming Daniel James on the right side against Palace, so we expect Mason Greenwood to return to the starting line-up. Odion Ighalo will start in the lone frontman position with Juan Mata playing off the left-hand side. Marcus Rashford needs a few days away from football as he looks to reset.

Predicted XI: Henderson, Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Williams, Matic, Fred. van de Beek, Mata, Ighalo, James
