Manchester United have been dealt a blow ahead of the FA Cup final with Anthony Martial set to miss the match.

The Red Devils face rivals Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday, with Erik ten Hag’s side hoping to complete a domestic cup double having already lifted the Carabao Cup in February.

According to BBC Sport, though, Martial will miss the match due to hamstring injury.

The Frenchman has played a bit-part role for United this season, and it now appears that the club could be prepared to sell him this summer.

As per Football Insider, United are ready to accept an offer for the forward during the upcoming transfer window.

The Manchester outfit are said to be happy to let Martial leave, although it is also claimed that they will hold out for their asking price for the player.

Martial, 27, joined United from French side Monaco in 2015 and made an instant impact, scoring three goals in his first two Premier League matches.

Martial could leave United this summer

More recently, though, the France international has struggled for game time at Old Trafford with the likes of Marcus Rashford ahead of him in the pecking order.

With that in mind, he was sent out on loan to Sevilla for the second half of the 2021/22 campaign, but his time in Spain was relatively unimpressive.

In total, Martial has scored 88 goals in 298 appearances across all competitions for United, including nine in 29 games this season.

The Frenchman has struggled with various different injuries this season, including problems with his hip, hamstring and achilles, and the report suggests that both parties have therefore decided that it may be best if he moves on.

Martial’s current contract with United is set to run until next summer, which means that he could leave the club for free next year if they don’t sell him during the upcoming transfer window.

United, who list Cristiano Ronaldo back in November, are set to be in the market for a new striker this summer but it appears unlikely that Martial will lead the line next term.
