Manchester United will hope to build on their recent upturn in form when they host the Premier League’s bottom side Southampton on Thursday evening.

The Red Devils followed up a 2-2 draw against league leaders Liverpool with a penalty shoot-out victory over rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday.

That win set up a fourth round tie against Leicester City, and Amorim will hope to see his side return to winning ways in the Premier League against a Saints side that have picked up just one point from their last seven games in the competition.

Now, though, it has emerged that United could miss out on one of their transfer targets.

According to GiveMeSport, the Red Devils are at risk of missing out on midfield target Sverre Nypan as they haven’t tabled a formal offer for the player.

The Rosenborg star has been a target for United for some time now, but the report claims that the 18-year-old has started exploring other options as he awaits an offer from the Manchester club.

Amorim and those in charge of United’s recruitment have stopped short of making an offer for Nypan

Norway Under-21 international Nypan has made a total of 60 appearances for Rosenborg in total, having graduated from the club’s youth academy.

He has scored 13 goals and registered 11 assists in that time, and his impressive displays have attracted interest from United.

Fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea have also shown interest in the player, who is primarily a central midfielder but can also play in an attacking midfield role or even as a forward.

The teenager is under contract with his current side until the end of 2026, but the report suggests that the Norwegian side could be willing to sell the player for a fee of around £15 million.
