The 27-year-old, who has 59 international caps for his country, scored a remarkable 23 goals and provided a further 32 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit last season.
Mkhitaryan, who had one year left remaining on his Dortmund deal, becomes the latest star lured to Old Trafford ahead of the forthcoming 2016/17 season by new Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho.
According to the Daily Mail, Mkhitaryan will set back United around £26m.
In fact; the Premier League giants accidentally announced Mkhitaryan’s arrival by giving Red Devils supporters the option to add the player’s name to the back of shirts on the official club website.
However, the error was quickly spotted and the purchase option was swiftly removed.
