Manchester United star edges closer to next club with move to South America ‘closer than ever’

The success of Manchester United’s season may well now all rest on the Europa League, with Europe’s second competition now their only remaining chance of silverware this term.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side got off to a strong start to their quarter final tie against Granada, with goals from Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes giving the Red Devils a comfortable 2-0 victory over the La Liga side on Thursday night.
In opening the scoring, Rashford became the fourth Premier League player to score 20 goals in all competitions this season, joining teammate Fernandes, Harry Kane and Mo Salah.
Rashford was substituted late in the game, replaced by veteran Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, who has recently been sidelined by an injury.
However, the Uruguay international is reportedly on the verge of a move away from Old Trafford.
According to ESPN, the former Paris Saint-Germain striker is ‘closer than ever’ to agreeing a deal to return to his native South America, and join Argentinean side Boca Juniors.

The report also suggests that the club’s president, Juan Roman Riquelme, has been handling the negotiations personally in a bid to entice the player.
Despite signing a two-year deal when joining United last summer, it is understood that both the player and club have the option to end the contract a year early.
The 34-year-old has scored seven times in 27 games across all competitions this term, and has been praised for his work rate and attitude whilst playing a bit part role in United’s season.
A source close to the player told ESPN: “He has the option to stay in Manchester, where he feels very welcome, but the option to return to South America is very real.”
“He ultimately will be the one making the decision. He seems he has it all very clear.”
ESPN also claimed that United were waiting until the player had returned to fitness before they made a decision on his future, however it appears now that Cavani is intent on an exit from Old Trafford.
