Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s summer transfer to Manchester United has been labelled “strange”, by Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke, via Kicker.
The Premier League side, who currently occupy seventh spot in the top-flight standings after Monday night’s 0-0 draw at Anfield against rivals Anfield, have failed to reap the benefits of their £27m addition so far this season.
The 27-year-old, who has 60 international caps for Armenia, has featured just five times for the Red Devils in all competitions so far this term, failing to find the back of the net or record an assist.
Mkhitaryan, who sat out Red Monday’s tie on Merseyside due to an injury strain, left Bundesliga outfit Dortmund back in July having won the DFL-Supercup with the German outfit back in 2014.
However, having failed to nail down a first-team spot at United under manager Jose Mourinho so far this campaign, Dortmund chief executive Watzke added that a future return for the Armenian was not on the cards.
Mkhitaryan scored an impressive 41 goals and set up a further 49 strikes in his 140 games for Dortmund.
