Gareth Southgate is reportedly considering calling up Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Forshaw for England’s upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifier against Scotland and international friendly versus Spain, according to The Telegraph.
The 46-year-old, who is in interim charge of the Three Lions for the remainder of the calendar year following Sam Allardyce’s exit earlier this season, is understood to have been running the rule over the Boro star ahead of next Friday’s clash with Scotland.
Forshaw, 25, who has never represented his country at youth or senior level, has made 11 appearances in all competitions for the newly promoted Premier League side so far this season.
The report claims Southgate watched the central midfielder in Middlesbrough’s 2-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth last Saturday, with fellow midfielder Jack Wilshere and defender Ben Gibson, also particular interest to him.
England face Scotland next Friday, November 11, in their next 2018 World Cup Group F qualifying fixture, before hosting Spain at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday, November 15.
