Middlesbrough are reportedly ready to rival Bologna in a bid to capture Premier League midfielder Gaston Ramirez, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Championship leaders, who defeated Brentford 1-0 in midweek, want to sign the Uruguay international in an attempt to boost their English top-flight promotion chances this campaign.
The 25-year-old, who has 34 international caps for his country, has played just 28 minutes of Premier League football for Ronald Koeman’s Saints so far this season.
Ramirez, who cost Southampton a reported £12m back in August 2012, is also wanted by his former club Bologna in Serie A this month.
