Middlesbrough have reportedly offered £8m plus Spain striker Kike in their attempts to land Scotland international Ross McCormack, according to Sky [Sports] Sources.

The Championship leaders, who lead second-placed Hull City by two points at the top of the table, are keen on signing the Fulham hitman during the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old, who has 12 international caps for his country, has scored an impressive 17 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for the Cottagers this season.

McCormack, who was also the subject of a rejected £10m bid from fellow Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the summer, only joined Fulham from Leeds United 18 months ago in a deal worth £11m.

With Fulham placed under a transfer embargo, Boro have tried to sweeten their offer with the exchange of fellow forward Kike, who has scored 13 goals in 60 league games since arriving from Real Murcia back in July 2014.
