Leeds United travel to Premier League high-flyers Liverpool on Tuesday night looking for a cup upset which would put them into the last-four of the League Cup.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are unbeaten in their last 15 matches in all competitions, and have knocked out Burton Albion, Derby County, and Tottenham in their run to the last-eight.

However, Garry Monk’s Leeds have been in excellent form in the Championship in recent weeks, and have won four of their last five league matches.

Their 2-1 win over Yorkshire rivals Rotherham on Saturday propelled Monk’s side into the play-off places, and optimism is growing around Elland Road after a fine run of results.

Monk’s men have got the better of Luton, Fleetwood, Blackburn, and Norwich to get to the quarter-finals, and they’ll go into Tuesday’s match full of confidence that they can cause a major upset.

With a tricky home game against Aston Villa coming up on Saturday, Monk may want to freshen things up at Anfield, so here are THREE players who deserve a chance on Tuesday night…

Ronaldo Vieira

Three League Cup starts already this season for Ronaldo Vieira, and his performances have surely earned him a chance to start against Liverpool on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old showed no fear in slotting home the winning spot-kick against Norwich in the last round, this all after an assured display in the middle, and he followed that up with his first goal for the Whites against the same opposition in the league three weeks ago.

That goal was also the winner, a stunning 25-yard strike, and he’s clearly a player who plays with little fear, and that could be invaluable against the Reds this week.

Alex Mowatt

Leeds’ Young Player of the Year in 2013/14 and their Player of the Year in 2014/15, yet Alex Mowatt cannot find a way into Monk’s starting eleven this time around.

The 21-year-old has made just four starts in the Championship this season, the last of which coming in their 1-0 defeat at Derby on October 15.

Mowatt has proven to be a very talented and adept midfielder, and Leeds could use his pace to their advantage against a weakened Liverpool side, who are likely going to have lots of the ball which could perhaps leave them prone to the counter attack.

He was on the bench against Rotherham on Saturday, and could come into the side on Tuesday at Anfield.

Marcus Antonsson

Leeds forward Chris Wood has been in sensational form so far this season, but Marcus Antonsson’s hat-trick for the Under-23’s last week could serve a reminder to Monk about the Swede’s ability.

The 25-year-old moved from Swedish top-flight side Kalmar in the summer, and was given the number 10 shirt by Monk at the expense of Mowatt.

He made a solid start to his Leeds career, netting in his second game in the League Cup win over Fleetwood, but has struggled to nail down a regular berth in the Championship, having netted just once in 13 appearances.

His League Cup record has thus far been good though, with two goals in three games, and he could provide Monk with another option at Anfield on Tuesday, be it from the bench or from the start.
