More defensive worries for Caixinha

Rangers will be without Danny Wilson when they enter the Europa League qualifiers next month.

With Clint Hill and Philippe Senderos released Pedro Caixinha will have only one experienced central defender available for selection with the first qualifier coming on June 29.

Wilson suffered a knee injury in the recent 2-1 win over Partick Thistle and has been told that he’ll be out of action for 10 weeks.

That leaves Rob Kiernan as the only experienced central defender on the books at Ibrox but the former Wigan man last started a match on April 1.

Rangers have been linked with Cagliari defender Bruno Alves but it seems unlikely that they’ll be able to pay a transfer fee and match the Serie A wages of a current internationalist.

Caixinha will have Rangers back for pre-season training on June 5 with all eyes on who will form his central defensive partnership ahead of the crucial Europa League qualifiers.
