Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is preparing to swing the axe in the summer in order to free up room for another record breaking signing, according to the Independent.
The former Chelsea boss will ship out the club record goalscorer, Wayne Rooney, as well as Ashley Young and midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
The mass overhaul will free up the funds the Portuguese needs to bring in top target, Antoine Griezmann, rated at around £100m, in the summer.
Both Young and Rooney have been touted as targets for clubs in the Chinese Super League whilst former Everton man Fellaini has split opinion at Old Trafford this season.
Whilst France international Griezmann has also been linked with a move Premier League rivals Arsenal, those in Manchester are hoping that close ties between their target and his compatriot Paul Pogba will give them the edge in the battle.
The departure of Memphis Depay in the summer, which freed up the number seven shirt, pointed – for some fans – to a move for the Frenchman in the summer, allowing him to take the fabled shirt upon his arrival.
